Headline: Chatbot Duplicated as Plugin? Oh Man, What Could Possibly Go Wrong!
Recently, OpenAI developed a plugin called “Chatbot GPT,” an automated service that can recognize user commands and hold text-based conversation. The developers promise that the plugin will revolutionize how automated conversations happen on digital platforms.
But it’s not all sunshine and roses: There are reasons to be wary of this technology. For starters, it’s really easy to duplicate the plugin, meaning any nefarious actors could deploy malicious, nearly undetectable bots to join the conversation.
What’s more, the people talking to the bots won’t be able to tell whether they’re real people or bots… and anyone can inject their own automated dialogue into the conversation. This opens up the door to all sorts of malicious activity, from trolling to identity theft.
But hey, there’s a bright side to it, too – maybe businesses could use the plugin to streamline customer service, by quickly and efficiently responding to customer queries.
All in all, it’s hard to tell whether this plugin is a blessing or a curse – we’ll have to wait and see how the world responds to it!
