Microsoft is set to take on Google in the search engine market with the integration of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence developed by OpenAI, into Bing. This follows significant financial support from Microsoft to OpenAI in the past. According to sources cited by The Information, the new, AI-powered search feature will be available as early as March.
ChatGPT is a chatbot that can respond to human text inputs in a natural way and even create texts, poems, and code. It is available for testing by anyone who is interested.
Google also uses artificial intelligence in its search engine, with its Multitask Unified Model (MUM) designed to better understand the intentions of searchers and respond accordingly. Its natural language processing model is called BERT. There is even an extension for Google’s Chrome browser that allows ChatGPT to be integrated.
It remains to be seen what the integration of ChatGPT into Bing will mean for the future of search. However, with both Microsoft and Google bringing their AI capabilities to the table, we can expect some exciting developments in the search industry in the coming months.
